Equator Homewares use a variety of different materials in their furniture and homewares range.

FIBRES
Water Hyacinth:
Our furniture is predominantly made from Water Hyacinth, an attractive and robust, free-floating perennial. It produces a beautifully soft, woven material that complements our hand crafted designs. Despite its natural beauty, it grows profusely in the wild, and if left unmanaged can cause problems for other plant life, irrigation and power generation. Harvesting the reeds alleviates these problems as well as providing employment for the local residents-both solutions in keeping with our eco friendly philosophy. Please note Water Hyacinth is a porous fibre and is not suitable for areas of high humidity.
Rattan:
Rattan is a lightweight, durable and easy to harvest material. Harvested from forests, under strict sustainable guidelines, it’s economic value can help protect forest land in local areas by offering an alternative to timber. With more than 600 species of rattan available, Equator Homewares sources only the highest quality for its furniture collections.

WOVEN FURNITURE
Comfort and durability in furniture starts with a solid foundation. Our superior quality framework is constructed from Rattan, which as well as being strong is also malleable. This allows us to create curvaceous designs usually limited by alternate materials. The fibres are initially treated with a deep permeating seal. Next, they are woven by our expert craftsmen, before all the fibers are coated in an eco-friendly, non-toxic, water-based paint. The final coat is clear matt lacquer which enhances the rich lustre and creates a strong seal for the fibre.
The legs are made from plantation timber and are hand painted with a chocolate brown stain. On request we are able to order the legs in a raw finish, which allows you to stain them a colour of your choosing.

WOVEN FURNITURE CARE
Keep woven furniture clean by vacuuming. A duster or cloth can also be used to remove surface dust which may accumulate. Occasional spillages should be treated immediately with warm soapy water and then dried thoroughly.

CUSTOM MADE

WALNUT FURNITURE
This year we have introduced our brand new range of beautifully designed walnut furniture, characterised by its strength of grain, rich deep colour and restraint of form. Each piece is hand crafted from certified plantation timbers and its solid walnut construction combines beauty with durability.

UPHOLSTERED FURNITURE
Our new range of Danish designed upholstered furniture is a welcome addition to the Equator range. It is a beautifully built collection that boasts a sturdy framework and high density foam and down cushions, ensuring that each piece is supremely comfortable. This range is available in a variety of different colours and materials.

UPHOLSTERED FURNITURE CARE
Keep upholstery clean by vacuuming regularly using the brush or fabric attachment. Soiled upholstery should be professionally cleaned. We recommend a spot test first if you are cleaning the material yourself.

SYNTHETIC RATTAN FURNITURE
This collection was inspired by the need to create practical, comfortable and elegant furniture suitable for outdoor spaces. The framework is stainless steel, which is sturdy and will not rust. The Synthetic Rattan is UV treated and will not crack or peel making it sympathetic to the Australian sun. Due to popular demand, we have expanded our extensive range of synthetic rattan furniture, available in a variety of colours including black, brown and toffee, to suit any application. We use VIRO fibre, which is one of the most recognized outdoor materials (www.virofiber.com). The cushions are provided in an outdoor, water resistant fabric. Most of the furniture in this range is made to order. Please contact our office for a quote or further information.

CUSHIONS
The cushions supplied with our furniture are made with high density foam and a soft dracon overlay for additional support and comfort. The covers are made from a light cotton canvas and are zippered for easy removal and cleaning. They have not been treated with a fabric protector and you may wish to apply this yourself after a spot test. Back cushions are included with most items of furniture (refer to images). We recommend that the cushion covers be professionally cleaned, though you may wash them yourself if you like. You can purchase additional inserts and covers if required.

LAMPS
All our lamps are wired here in Australia and adhere to strict Australian Standards. They are wired for a 60 watt globe and we do not advise using bulbs of a higher wattage. Please be mindful of the environment and switch off when not in use.

CANDLE HOLDERS
We offer a large range of candle holders in our collection. We recommend the use of only good quality candles and remind you that candles must always be supervised. Please read the labels attached to each item for any specific requirements.

CONTAINERS
We are able to ship direct to customers who are able to receive full containers. This is the most economical way to purchase from us if you require large containers. Please contact our Sydney office for further information or for a quotation.

WARRANTY
All our products hold a one year structural warranty. Goods can be replaced should there be a manufacturing fault within the structure of the piece. The fibres do not carry a warranty due to our furniture being used in different applications and environments which may not be appropriate. Goods which have been placed in an unsuitable environment or mistreated will not be covered under the warranty. Our natural fibres must be kept in a well ventilated area. They are not weatherproof and cannot be used outdoors.
Please note that the warranty does not apply to items affected by mildew or mould and precautions must be taken for natural fibres kept in humid conditions.

We offer a three year warranty on the VIRO fibres in our synthetic rattan furniture, provided the damage is not caused by improper or unreasonable applications and/or abusive use.
